2025 Volkswagen ID.7 Engine
The ID.7 will be launched with a single 282-horsepower electric motor driving the rear wheels. A more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive option is planned to join the lineup later, but for now, this rear-wheel-drive setup should deliver quite quick acceleration.
Power
VW claims a 5.0-second accelerating time to reach 60 mph. In Spain, we tested an early version and were delighted by its firm suspension, controlled body motions, and fun handling. We did notice that the steering was less organic in certain modes of operation than we might have liked, but it’s likely that some of the tunings haven’t been perfected yet.
Performance
When the ID.7 is released, we’ll be able to test drive the finished model, and we’ll update this piece with new driving experiences. The LCD between the three bars may be customized to show a variety of information, including mapping, energy consumption, and range indicators, as well as what’s playing on the optional 700W 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
