2025 Buick Encore GX Pricing & Release Date

Posted on

The 2025 Buick Encore GX has a lot of responsibility as the smallest vehicle in Buick’s all-SUV portfolio on its little shoulders. Its job is to attract younger customers to the brand, but when parked next to the Audis, BMWs, and Volvos it competes with, it’s difficult to sell its premium-but-not-quite-luxury appearance and feel. Although it is less expensive than SUVs from major companies, its appeal is far less. The Encore GX has a comparable amount of features, but it also has interior materials of average quality and underwhelming turbocharged three-cylinder engines. Although the handling is very dull, the brand concept of Buick excludes backroad thrills.

2025 Buick Encore GX Design

This new visage is more appealing to the eye than the previous iteration, seeming more modern and athletic. The slightly frumpy and bulbous previous fascia has vanished. The encore GX is the first production vehicle to feature this unique take on the Buick shields. In this Avenir trim, the new grille is framed by dazzling chrome and features an uninterrupted mesh design. Just below the finely creased hood are a set of swoopy winged LED headlights.

Buick Encore GX Exterior good review

From the side, the Avenir gets huge, 19-inch Pearl Nickel aluminum wheels with that new logo in the center. It also receives body-color fenders rather than black like some of the other grades. In the back, we notice the new logo reproduced boldly, with the LED taillights almost pointing it out. The brand name is spelled out prominently below that. At the bottom is what appears to be a black diffuser, but we can’t think of it doing anything other than make the car look stylish.

Buick Encore GX Interior and Comfort

Buick’s market stance crosses the line between luxury and mainstream, thus it comes with more features than entry-level versions of competitors like the Nissan Kicks and Subaru Crosstrek, but not as many as an Audi, BMW, or Volvo. The front passenger seat of the Buick Encore GX may be folded flat to make carrying longer things easier. With the back seats folding, the GX can accommodate 16 carry-on bags, which is only a few less than the somewhat bigger Cadillac XT4.

2025 Buick Encore GX Performance Engine

Two three-cylinder turbocharged engines power the Buick Encore GX. The 1.2-liter basic model produces 137 horsepower. The 1.3-liter optional engine has 155 horsepower. The more powerful engine is standard on all Encore GX versions with all-wheel drive, including the pricier front-drive variants. Similar to the smaller engine, the somewhat larger engine only works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Luxury-brand competitors to the Buick Encore GX offer more potent engines and significantly faster acceleration times. The Encore GX seems more spirited on the road than its acceleration figures imply, especially in town.
