The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning will be the third manufacturing year of the company’s first all-electric pickup truck, and it appears that some significant changes are on the way. Specifically, it appears that the Blue Oval Company is about to upgrade and improve the battery, not only in regard to power and range but also charging speed, which is currently one of the weakest points. But, we do not anticipate any changes to the main layout.

the company's first all-electric pickup truck

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning should have better battery technology, but we expect a familiar design and features. As a result, you can expect traditional features such as great electrical performance, a large cabin, a comprehensive list of standard equipment, and so on.

2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Design

The general design, on the opposite hand, will not alter, and this applies both to mechanics and looks. The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning will retain the same chassis and suspension configuration that provides unexpectedly good handling and overall driving qualities. The appearance is similar to the gas-powered version, with notable variations in the front and back ends emphasizing the model’s all-electric character.

The same can be said for the interior design, which resembles that of gas vehicles. The overall build quality is superb, and it comes with numerous basic and extra tech features. Its interior has a 5.5-foot bed, and because we’re talking about an all-electric car, there’s also a very big frunk in the front, which adds another degree of usefulness and convenience.

2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Performance

On the other hand, we do not feel that larger advances in electric motors and overall performance are possible. As just an end, base versions should have 452 horsepower, while more competent variations will have a maximum output of 580 horsepower. Surprisingly, both models have the same power rating of 775 pound-feet.

With such output, it’s no surprise that the all-electric F-150 has excellent acceleration and overall performance. The more powerful variant can reach 60 mph in 4 seconds and complete a quarter mile in 12.7 seconds.

Whereas the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning will continue to trail behind the gas-powered F-150 in towing and hauling. The base model can only pull 7.700 pounds, while the most powerful variations can only haul 10.000 pounds. It has a lift capacity of 1.800 to 2.000 pounds, which is also below average for the sector.

The current model is available in two variations, each with a maximum range of 230 to 320 miles. The Rivian R1T has a maximum range of 400 miles, but autonomy isn’t even the F-150’s major disadvantage. The main issue is charging speed, which is restricted to 150kW at best. For instance, the R1T has a charging speed of 220kW, whilst the newest Hummer EV has quite sophisticated battery tech and a charging speed of 350 kW. We don’t know how the Blue Oval firm plans to boost charging speed, but it’s necessary if they want to stay relevant.

We anticipate that several of these items will become standard equipment within the next year.
